Von Eschenbach Replaces Crawford as FDA Chief

Following the resignation of FDA Commissionerlinks Lester M. Crawford effective September 23, President Bush appoints Dr. Andrew C. von Eschenbach, head of the National Cancer Institute as replacement. The new chief promises to look into ways of improving FDA operations, i.e. speed up timelines without sacrificing patient safety.
