Genesis Genomics UK releases a skin test called skinphysical to evaluate skin damage due to sun exposure. Professor Mark Birch-Machin, a skin cancer expert with Newcastle University's School of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and managing director of Genesis Genomics UK, says:
"People who take it get a highly personalised assessment of the risks they are facing from the sun, which depends on factors such as their genetic skin type, lifestyle, and, most importantly, the results from the test, which reveals the extent of damage accumulated over many years."

How does it work? According to the Skinphysical's website, there are four stages:

Stage One: Complete the Sun Lifestyle Questionnaire.

Stage Two: Provide one small skin sample taken from the end of the elbow crease on your upper arm. This is then sent to our state-of-the-art laboratory for analysis.

Stage Three: Skinphysical will review the completed questionnaire and the skin's molecular profile to determine genetic skin type and damage.

Stage Four: A customized and detailed assessment of the current skin health status and a personal Sun Lifestyle Programme will be provided.
