Opportunities in Biotechnology Careers

The iCoast technology cluster in South Florida will launch an online training program for prospective biotechnology technicians particularly for those in the region, including Palm Beach County, Broward County and Miami Dade County.

The curriculum amounts to 40 hours of instructional modules that take 30 to 45 minutes each to complete. They cover literacy for biotech, regulatory compliance, biotech facilities and equipment, safety awareness, problem-solving and decision-making, basic laboratory interaction and preparing the biotech workplace.

According to iCoast Executive Director Michael Corbit, upon completion of the coursework, trainees will receive a certificate that will serve as additional credential "you have to have to be a Florida employer, employee or student in biotech in Florida''.

The Online Biotech courses are only available to Florida participants approved by iCoast and Workforce Florida. Interested applicants may register here.
