BIO is inviting nominations to the Biotech Humanitarian Award. The award aims to recognize a biotech professional- a scientist, researcher, academic, entrepreneur, financier, philanthropist or educator - whose work in biotechnology made significant impact in the areas of therapeutics, food and agriculture, or industrial or environmental applications.
Qualified nominees for the Biotech Humanitarian Award will have added value to society through their pursuit of biotechnology processes including:
- The researcher who has discovered a new biologic drug for a chronic disease
- The professor that has encouraged their students to petition the local government to increase funding for improved agricultural practices
- The venture capitalist that is funding a start-up in the pursuit of new biofuels technology
If you would like to nominate someone (or perhaps yourself!), you can place your nominations here. All nomination applications must be submitted by Midnight ET, April 15, 2009. The Award winner and the finalists will be honored at or near the time of 2009 BIO International Convention in Atlanta, GA, May 18-21, 2009.
