New Dental Procedures May Help Eliminate Dental Phobia
Soon, some of the common factors contributing to dental phobia may be addressed. Researchers are working on two novel dental procedures that promises to dramatically reduce the pain of a visit to the dentist's.

First, researchers in the school's Center for Dental Studies are testing a nasal spray that numbs the upper teeth, eliminating the need for delivering anesthetic via injections, at least on the upper jaw.

Second, scientists will test the use of ozone to kill bacteria in a decayed tooth and its potential to eliminate the need for the dreaded drill, at least to repair simple cavities.

These studies will be conducted at the University at Buffalo and is funded by a $1.5 million grant from Curozone, Inc. and Kavo Dental Manufacturing Co.
