New Dental Procedures May Help Eliminate Dental Phobia
Filed in archive Diagnostics, Methodologies and Instrumentation on January 24, 2007
Soon, some of the common factors contributing to dental phobia may be addressed. Researchers are working on two novel dental procedures that promises to dramatically reduce the pain of a visit to the dentist's.
First, researchers in the school's Center for Dental Studies are testing a nasal spray that numbs the upper teeth, eliminating the need for delivering anesthetic via injections, at least on the upper jaw.
Second, scientists will test the use of ozone to kill bacteria in a decayed tooth and its potential to eliminate the need for the dreaded drill, at least to repair simple cavities.
These studies will be conducted at the University at Buffalo and is funded by a $1.5 million grant from Curozone, Inc. and Kavo Dental Manufacturing Co.

I've heard things about this one. This is cool! This will help lessen, and totally eliminate the dentist phobia of the public. Some Dental Maryville TN assembly have been doing research on the use of ozone to kill bacteria on the tooth, that will not require anesthetic injections. This injection is the one reason why the public have dentist phobia.
