This entry is submitted by Gloria Gamat, via Creative Reporter.A magnesium-rich diet may lower the risk of colon cancer, research said:

Researchers from the School of Public Health at the University of
Minnesota, found that diets rich in magnesium reduced the occurrence of colon cancer.
The protective mechanism of magnesium is not clear but the researchers suggest that reductions in insulin resistance, oxidative stress, and cell proliferation could be possible.

Although colorectal cancer accounts for 9% of new cancer cases every year worldwide, it is still the most curable cancer once diagnosed early.

The mineral Magnesium is found naturally in green, leafy vegetables, meats, starches, grains and nuts, and milk. Unfortunately, adults normally take up less than the RDA for magnesium: 320 mg per day for women and 420 mg per day for men.

Green. Leafy. Vegetables. May be hard to swallow for most of us. But that usually does the trick in lowering the risk of major diseases.
