Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LabCorp) acquired the rights to commercialize a diagnostic blood test for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) developed at Yale University.
"Ovarian cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to detect, especially in the earliest stages when it is more treatable," said Myla P. Lai-Goldman, M.D., Executive Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer and Medical Director of LabCorp. "LabCorp continues to dedicate resources to identifying and commercializing tests to help discriminate earlier between disease-free and cancer patients."
The test is an ELISA-based assay for known serum proteins associated with EOC, the results of which are evaluated using a score system. While preliminary Clinical trial results have already shown that the technology is more sensitive and specific than currently available tests, Yale will continue to conduct additional clinical studies prior to commercialization.

It's a real shame that this technology was bought by Labcorp. LabCorp sucks! They will find a way to mess it up. My personal frustration with them has led me to create a website called www.labcorpsucks.com. Their employees are out of control and it seems that this is a result of their mid-level managers. There is nothing worse than managers that have two eyes but do not see what is happening right in front of them. We will be recording complaints and filing them with the appropriate government regulators and investigatory agencies. Maybe then they will get it.
