Aside from entering into joint projects with China on issues of public health, Havana's Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology is also sparking interest from the Swiss government.
Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline will soon begin clinical trials on a meningitis B vaccine developed in Cuba. Experts say there may be similar opportunities for Swiss companies in future.
Chinese and Swiss delegates are attending the ongoing Fifth International Congress on Higher Education ¨UNIVERSIDAD 2006", seeking possible further collaborations.

Cuba also has strong ties to Canada, given Canada's biotech strengths, proximity, and lack of embargo.

I think, Cuban Biotechnology Institutions are good examples for developing world.
Americans should think more about this ambargo. They make themselves far away from the warm feelings of most of the world. I wonder if they care ......
