Computer Glitch at the Calgary Lab Services
Filed in archive Genomics, Proteomics and Bioinformatics on July 15, 2005

I wouldn't want to have been one of the 2,051 patients in calgary who had lab tests, such as blood or urine, done between May 1 and July 5. Dr. Chris Eagle, chief medical officer with the region, says a problem with a database used by Calgary Lab Services caused some test results to be attributed to the wrong patient. This is the same Internet database that doctors use to view lab test results, hence, it could mean that some people are receiving inappropriate treatment or not getting the treatment they need.
Liberal Leader Kevin Taft says the problem raises questions about the implementation of electronic health records. Who wouldn't agree? How about you-- how does your doctor handle your medical records? Do you feel comfortable about your health records being in the cyberspace?

How long will it before Google does this same thing? Although Digital media has much better performance when being sorted and copied, the software that controls those actions was still written by a human :) http://truecolortech.com
