Clinical Trial Website Launched

In the wake of the Vioxx scandal, international pharmaceutical firms and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations have put together a new website giving details of clinical trials on new medicines to allay patient fears over drug safety.

The website (http://www.ifpma.org/clinicaltrials) allows searches not only on results of completed trials, but also on on-going trials:

• basic information, including brief title and description in lay terms
  


• trial phase, trial type, trial status
  


• trial purpose (treatment/diagnosis/prevention)
  


• intervention type (for example drug or vaccine)
  


• condition or disease
  


• key eligibility criteria (including gender and age)
  


• location of trial, and
  


• contact information
