An article in the December issue of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology reviews the current treatment applications and limitations of Botox (BTX-A), aside from that which is most popular, which is it's use in aesthetic medicine. Discussed are the data on the use of Botox in

inflammatory diseases, muscle spasticity and pain alleviation

proctology, and as non-surgical therapy for anal fissure

as an inhibitor of acetylcholine, substance P and glutamate, and its applicability in the treatment of various types of eczema and pruritus, and

as a blocker of the secretion of sweat/saliva/mucus and its applications in Hailey--Hailey disease, facial eccrine hidrocystomas, salivary fistulas, and intrinsic rhinitis
