[The authors] have identified schizophrenia biomarkers in serum, and working with the company Rules-Based Medicine, located in Austin, Texas, and Lake Placid, N.Y., she expects that a serum-based test to aid in the diagnosis of schizophrenia will be launched sometime this year.

I will like to have more information on testing of blood for schizophrenia, as I suspect some patients are wrongly classified with the condition.

This will be a game changer in the treatment and early diagnosis of this awful disease. Unfortunately, as the above poster alludes to there is a stigma associated with a schizophrenia diagnosis. Often patients, caregivers, family, etc. deny they have the illness and face years of unneccessary relapses. Relapses that hurt the overall long-term prognosis. At least now healthcare providers will be able to confirm their diagnosis, taking subjectivity out of the equation.
