I'm always amazed when the CEO of a young biotech company still regards external communications as something the company doesn't need to worry about much until after the initial public offering. Yet young biotech companies must compete with their more visibly aggressive peers for venture financing, partners and all the other resources they need to develop and grow, even before going public. They can benefit from making themselves known to potential investors before testing the waters of the public market, when they may be subject to additional regulatory constraints on how and when they tell their story.
The article also discussed the role of blogs and their potential to build corporate PR. As an attachment, it also listed some of the biotech blogs currently up on the web. Aside from the Biotech Weblog, other blogs mentioned, most of which already appear on my recommended links, were:
- BioPeer
- Biotech Blog
- BioBoom:
- So you have a good idea
- Colorado life science deal flow
- Biotech licensing (James Hatton)
- Patent Baristas
Many thanks to SciBlog for writing a blog entry about the article and linking to this blog. Otherwise, I would have totally missed it! Vielen, vielen Dank!
