The European Commission has granted an orphan drug designation to an investigational anticancer drug, 1D09C3, developed for the treatment of Hodgkin's lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
1D09C3 is an anti-MHC (major histocompatibility complex) class II monoclonal antibody. 1D09C3 binds to MHC class II molecules on the surface of cells and selectively kills activated, proliferating tumor cells, which include B-cell and T-cell lymphomas.
1D09C3 is the first internal research program to advance into human trials by GPC Biotech, a Germany-based firm focusing on oncology. Read the full press release from GPC Biotech.
